feels like home.

i am spending the weekend in bordeaux. this is where my family is from and it is always a special time for me having lived so far away all my life. i miss my family while i am away. my grandmother understands that i want this to be home too. she has taken me all over, teaching me how to get around, where the important landmarks are, where to shop and eat.
bordeaux is a special place because like all the places i have lived before paris... they are historic port towns. bordeaux is a historic port town, a walled in city before it expanded and it is incredibly beautiful. the quais, the cathedral, the little streets and high walls, embellished buildings in a cream colored stone. the city is then surrounded by castles from all eras and vineyards for kilometers... red red wine. we visited a small castle that has been turned into a museum... a modern art museum. the juxstaposition of the beautiful 18th century castle adorned with beautiful details and incredible chandaliers alongside pieces by picasso and other modern artists was interesting. myself... i loved the castle. here are some little magical details from the week-end thus far at my grandparents more than beautiful home, the museum and out and about.
playing dress up in my grandmothers incredible closet.
